Устройство с несколькими сетевыми портами (как правило 10BaseT) для подключения рабочих станций и серверов. Обычно в автономных концентраторах имеется порт для подключения других концентраторов (наращивание, каскадирование), обозначенный Uplink. Иногда этот порт имеет переключатель Normal/Uplink позволяющий использовать порт как для каскадирования, так и для подключения пользовательских станций. Достаточно часто в концентраторе устанавливается один или два порта 10Base2 и/или 10Base5 для соединения с существующими сегментами локальной сети. Обычно автономные концентраторы являются неуправляемыми устройствами - это позволяет существенно снизить цену. Предназначены автономные концентраторы для использования в небольших сетях или рабочих группах.
